The Capps Center is host to a Fulbright/U.S. State Department “Study of the United States” each summer. Eighteen scholars from countries around the world come to Santa Barbara for a four-week residency followed by a 12-day field trip across the country with visits to Los Angeles, Salt Lake City, Atlanta, and Washington, D.C. The theme for the institute is “Religion in the United States: Pluralism and Public Presence.” The program began in 2002.
